This is why APU pays particular emphasis on providing you with the best environment and tools to develop and improve your language and communication skills. As you apply for APU, you will choose whether you would prefer to do your coursework in English or Japanese. No prior knowledge of the other language is required. However, you will be required to be able to communicate in both languages by the time you graduate. Upon enrollment, you will take a placement test in the language that is not your language of choice for instruction. The results of this test will determine the starting level of your language classes. The language classes are intensive and cater for all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. By the time you graduate, you will be able to communicate fluently and effectively in both Japanese and English.
