No additional application documents are required to apply, but you must indicate that you wish to be considered for this scholarship within the APU online application.
About the Scholarship
This scholarship is for master’s and doctoral candidates admitted to
APU, whose research relates to the following theme: "Issues and
Opportunities in the Asia-Pacific Region: Rapid Transformation amid
Accelerating Globalization."
The scholarship aims to cultivate future leaders who will be active
both domestically and internationally.
Eligibility Requirements
- 1.Intend to enroll at APU in September 2025.
- 2.Intend to take a cross-disciplinary approach to tackle global issues and overcome differences of nationality, language, religion and political systems.
- 3.Intend to conduct research that is for the benefit of the general public and contributes to social development, freedom, peace, humanity and international mutual understanding, consistent with the basic theme of "Issues and Opportunities Facing the Asia Pacific Region: Rapid Transformation amid Accelerating Globalization".
- 4.Willing to take initiative towards your chosen issue or problem, and have the determination and potential to take a leading role on the domestic and/or international stage.
- 5.Not currently receiving or scheduled to receive scholarships from other organizations exceeding 48,000JPY/month.
- 6.Have not been subject to any disciplinary action in the past.

Award
The scholarship will be provided every month for a full academic
year, and will be revoked if the candidate takes a leave of absence
or loses their registration at APU (withdrawal, expulsion, etc.)
- 1,500,000 JPY (125,000JPY/month)
Application and Selection Process

1. Request to be considered as a Sylff
scholarship candidate in the APU online application, and submit
the application to APU by March 26, 2025.
Additional documents are not required to be considered for this scholarship. - 2. APU reviews application documents, selects eligible candidates.
- 3. Applicants receive final results on May 28, 2025.
