Public transportation makes getting around Beppu easy and convenient.
Most students commute to APU by one of Beppu’s two public bus services. Students living off-campus usually buy long term commuter passes for which steep discounts are available. Commuter passes allow students to travel as many times as they like between APU and their nearest bus stop. Depending on the boarding location it usually takes 10 to 35 minutes to reach APU from anywhere in Beppu by bus. Multi-pass discounts and discounted pre-paid cards are also available for traveling around the city.
Students with a valid license and insurance policy are permitted to drive their motorbikes to campus.
Parking your motorbike at APU requires pre-registration at the Student Office.
Please note that students are not allowed to drive cars on campus although they may drive one off campus with a proper license and insurance policy.
All incoming international students are required to live at APU’s on-campus dormitory, AP House unless they receive permission to live with a relative off campus. From AP House it is just a short 3 to 5 minute walk to all other campus facilities. The AP House bus stop also makes it easy for residence to access services offered in Beppu City. Special discounted tickets and pre-paid cards for use within Beppu City are available at the APU co-op to all students.
