Throughout the year various events are held by APU, students clubs and local organizations. These events can be for your study, your career or just for enjoyment, such as the Multicultural Week, student festivals, Japanese traditional festival, fireworks, and business contests. Because of our international population on campus, those events have very dynamic multicultural colors that you cannot experience anywhere else! Join in, get involved, and have fun! You will never be bored here!
Multicultural Week is one of the unique events in APU that shows off the diversity on campus. Up until now there have been Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Oceania, African, Latin American, Taiwan, Mongolian, Bangladesh, Indian, Sri Lankan, European, and Indonesian weeks. During each Multicultural Week, there are many activities put on by students, and then there is a final grand performance at the end of the week.
During the Indonesia weeks I was involved in, we cooked Indonesian food, introduced our language and country, and performed our dances and musics in a very professional way. More than 100 students with various nationalities worked on it together , and our high standard performance even attracted cooperation from the Embassy and mass media. Multicultural Week has proved that in APU, diversity is not a reason for separation, but instead, becomes a tool of unity, because without diversity, there will be no unity.
The business plan contest was a real eye-opener. It was amazing and enriching to learn about the contestants’ interesting business ideas and to put our entrepreneurship skills to the test. As much as it was hard work to prepare the business plan, it was also a lot of fun to be able to combine our creativity, passion and knowledge all into one project.
The contest was not all about winning; but understanding the entrepreneurial spirit in us. Having angel investors and professionals join the judging panel for the contest made me nervous, but I have gained a lot of tips which will be helpful when I become an entrepreneur in the near future. I now look forward to my future career path with my increased confidence and passion after the business plan contest.
