To Beppu by Air :
You can easily get to Beppu from either Fukuoka International Airport or Oita Airport.
From Fukuoka International Airport : The "Toyonokuni"express bus runs regularly from the Fukuoka Airport international terminal to downtown Beppu. For APU, please get off at "Beppu-wan Service Area" located next to APU for quick access to the campus on foot. For central Beppu City, please get off at "Beppu Kitahama" stop.
From Oita Airport : Airport Limousine buses to downtown Beppu are available regularly. If heading directly to APU from Oita Airport, please get off "Kamegawa Furuichi” bus stop, cross the road and take the APU bound Oita Kotsu bus (red stripe bus) from the Oita Kotsu Bus "Furuichi" bus stop. (

To Beppu by Train :
From Eastern Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka etc): Travelers coming by Shinkansen (bullet train) from eastern Japan should change to the JR Sonic Express Train in Kokura.
From Fukuoka : The JR Sonic Express Train runs from Fukuoka (Hakata) Station to Beppu Station.

To APU from within Beppu
From within Beppu city APU is serviced by two public bus companies, each running multiple routes throughout the city. Buses bound for APU regularly depart from both sides of Beppu Station and from Kamegawa Station in northern Beppu. To APU, it takes about 35 minutes from Beppu Station and about 15 minutes from Kamegawa Station.
